Synopsis:
At Christmas holidays around the world the reindeer have become an integral part of celebrations. Songs are written and stories are told. Few of them have anything to do with the real reindeer, and animals depicted are often rather red deer with some white fluffy snow thrown on top of them. The story of wild reindeer is very different - and even though many stories have been told about them, this film goes beyond the generally known stories about this animals and its history.

In this holiday special, the Nordic Christmas Gnome - the Tomtenisse - takes us on a journey around the world to find the home of a lonely orphaned reindeer known to the world as Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

ARCTIC CIRCLE is a collection of Discovery Channel documentary films produced by Scandinature Films.  SURVIVING THE ICE AGE documents the great ice age and its effects on the arctic region.  The vast glacier peaks from the ancient ice age continue to change the arctic landscape due to global warming.  REALM OF THE REINDEER shows the various species of reindeer in their natural habitat, living side-by-side with the Dollgan and Saatan Inuit people.  CONQUERING THE ARCTIC conveys the challenges of scientific expeditions in the harsh arctic climate while also providing a glimpse to the unique beauty of the wildlife and landscape.
