During the fall of 1993 I was approached by Jason Sperling to create a musical score to his short film ADVENTUROUS ANDY. This score would be a unique opportunity for a composer since the film was a silent film. The main character, Andy, would be a Charlie Chaplin-type character whose screen actions, emotions and physical comedic mishaps were to be limited to only on-screen visual performances. All of the dialogue would be handled through single-card dialogue cards, just like the original silent films. There would also be no sound effects. The musical score would be the only sound for the film. Rather than a traditional organ accompanying the film, the musical score would be a full orchestral score.
